Voices for Animals-Feral Cat Clinics-Thanks for Volunteering

I would especially like to thank volunteer and co-president of Voices for Animals, Mary Ellen, for her extraordinary dedication and her ongoing giving of time and talent to help the cats of Charlottesville and Albemarle County and for arranging all of the feral cat clinics.

Thanks for Volunteering!

Many thanks for helping at our February 27th clinic.
In all, 98 cats were spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and 3 kittens were adopted.

The total number of cats done in the past 6 clinics is now 607.
Thanks to all of you who have already offered to help at our make-up clinic this coming Saturday, March 6th.

Voices for Animals wants to extend a special thanks to the CASPCA for being our partner in this project and especially Beth McPhee for her help before and during the clinics.

Thanks also to the veterinarians who performed the surgeries:

  • Dr. Denae Babbit
  • Dr. Nellie Bierly
  • Dr. Steve Epstein
  • Dr. Sandy Feldman
  • Dr. Angie Ware

We appreciate the help of Dan Hay, a first year veterinary student who is the son of Dr. Hay.

Thanks also to LVTs Hillary Vannoy and Courtney Pugh for assisting in surgery and Betsy Cash in anesthesia.

Each of you volunteered at this clinic because you believe TNR is the only humane way to limit the population growth of free roaming cats. Please help us continue this work by speaking to your own personal veterinarians/vet techs and asking them to get involved.

Keep up the good work getting your friends, relatives and coworkers to volunteer at our clinics.

Thanks again for your help on February 27th and for all the ways you individually help animals in our community every day!

The Kittens "Found" a Purr-fect Home

The kittens have names:
  • Honno - the female Calico.
  • Mochi - the male grey kitten.

Both of us were adopted together at the Feral Cat Clinic on Sat., Feb. 27, 2010.
Our new family just lost their 18-year-old kitty, and they wanted to adopt 2 kittens.
We are very lucky kittens.
We were rescued by a nice person who found us on the railroad tracks in Louisa County. We were very thin. Thank you to Voices for Animals for helping us find this Purr-fect home.

Neptune #28356 Was Adopted Today, 01/30/09 . . .

My name is Neptune, named after the mighty god of the seas. I may have a big name but I am really a sweet baby who loves attention. As far as my age goes, I am old enough to know better (as they say). One thing for sure, everyone says I am very handsome with my yellow and white colorings. I can play like a kitten, but I love my naps more than anything, and I'm much better behaved!
If you are lucky, you will get to hear my very special meow. I promise it will make your heart melt-but I don't let just anybody hear it! I have a heart of gold, and I promise you will not be disappointed! I was adopted at Purrin' @ Pantops! Love, Neptune.

Jackpot! Good 'Mews' for Neptune today - A nice lady returned to Purrin' to adopt a cat or cats, and Mr. Purr-sonality decided to be a show off. Neptune wouldn’t let any cats get near her. He kept chatting to her and zipping around her like a kitten. It was very adorable, and he got his way. Neptune will be an indoor cat in a home shared by an older lab mix. There are no other animals besides that.

He was one of the Inauguration-Special Cats at Purrin'. His new human companion promised to stop by and let us know how he is doing.

Neptune is the god of the sea in Roman mythology, and we all love our big yellow and white boy, Neptune, who was adopted today, 01/30/09, at Purrin' @ Pantops. Good luck in your new home, Neptune.

Loretta Divine was our First Kitty Adopted in 2009.

Loretta Divine looks up at the camera wearing her beautiful mask. She was one of Katie's favorites, and she has been at Pantops for a while. I am very happy this little black and white female kitty found a forever home. She was originally brought to the CASPCA with 5 kittens. She was a very good mother. Stopping by to Say Hi, from Piney. Former Purrin' Kitty.

I hope you're not worried about Piney with the balloon. That was just while I was watching her.(I picked her up from Purrin' on my birthday, so that was the reason for the pic. Plus, she was playing & I never saw her do this much before.) That one was thrown away & (the string) had been kept out of reach. I'm a fairly obsessive cat mother, or at least I try to think ahead of every possible problem.

Jasper-Siamese Male-Has Been Adopted

Jasper #31190 is a beautiful chocolate white Siamese Male cat with blue eyes. Today, he arrivered at the SPCA rummage store, then he was immediately adopted. Jasper went home with a man who is still grieving his 18-year-old kitty that just passed over The Rainbow Bridge. So, we know young Jasper will have an excellent new home. Jasper has been at the main shelter for about a month. Good luck, Jasper, in your new home.
